Our box was waiting when we got home last night. I opened it but was too tired to try and undo the super duper wrap job they had on them. :D We are going to get them polished and clear powder coated. :drink::drink: |
Got mine too...great packaging and prompt shipping. Question, if I have these polished, do they have to be clear powdercoated to protect the finish? Can I just leave them polished or do a couple coats of clear at a friends body shop? Or will they scratch unpowdercoated?

Tim,
Sand, sand, sand...Start at 400 and work your way up to 1000-1500. Then polish. You are in fresh water, like me, so I did not coat them and they stay real nice. Once a year, hit them with some Flitz or Mothers Billett and they are fine. On a sanding note, the tops and inside cover go real fast, the grooves take time and you may have to start at like 320 grit. I used a pencil eraser to get in the slots and clean up the machine marks. It doesn't take too long! Let me know if you need anything else, anyone! Thanks again! Dave |
Got my also thanks!

Dave Mine are getting polished at $60 each, and they recommended that we do NOT clear powder coat them...........and these guys are top notch experts! http://www.powdercoater.com They did my bilge parts when I did the diamond plate project, and a powder coated some custom boat camera mount parts. They know their stuff. He said just polish them once a year or so. He said one chip and the stuff will peel like a cancer since they are polished. |

Back from them today. They recommended waxing them periodically to keep them looking like this!
Now where do we get the cup holders? |

Now where do we get the cup holders? I bought my stainless handles and cup holders from Bill @ Diamond Performance 302-521-0123. |
Let Bill know what they are for and mention the step plates, he knows what you need!
They look great! Dave |
Just got mine installed in time for the weekend. Polished for $60 each too. Had to do a little Dremel work in the hull side on the bolt holes for the fat handle(didn't quite match up), but all went together nicely. Backing plate is a must, looks much better with it. Looks great...thanks AXA!:coolcowboy: Now on to the plastic speaker screens...anyone recommend a direct billet replacement?

Bill.....do those fit in these step plates? The lip looks too thick.....
Bill, do you think you can send me one to test fit? I'll check it out and post back. If they do fit, might be a nice upgrade, although the stainless will hold up better to the constant in and out of your favorite beverage! Dave |
Dave, I will send you one to see if it fits.
|
Thanks Bill!

On back order till next week. See what happens.

I had my step plates polished and installed them over the weekend, they turned out great. The only problem Im having is the cup holders (blue) I purchased from Livorsi is stopping the hinged cover from closing all the way. Were did you guys get yours from? The lip is not flat, that seems to be causing the problem.

That is the design. Give Bill a call at Diamond performance. He stocks them.
Dave PS: Bill, the Billett holder is too big too. I tried it this weekend. Looks like we need to keep the stainless style for now. Give me call when you have a minute. |

Here are the cup holders I got and I believe the step plates were specifically designed for these. The rim sits nicely in the machined recess and the lid closes completely.
http://eddiemarine.com/store/cart.ph...l&p=12282&c=82 It's not the deeper one? http://eddiemarine.com/store/cart.ph...l&p=12278&c=82 |
