polishing step plates

Sorry it took me a while to post a reply guys ~ I just got back today from a little boat ride on The Navigator of the Seas...
I had my step-plates polished by Steve @ Tripp Plating Works, Inc. 1491 William Street, Buffalo, NY 14206.
716-893-9377.
If I remember right, I paid $150.00 total for polishing both sides. It sounds like a lot of money for polishing, but after first trying to do it myself by hand and not having very good results, it was a bargain! They have all the right heavy-duty polishing equipment to do the job right. They shine as much as the stainless steel grab handle and drink holder that I got from Bill @ Diamond Performance.
I'm sure that if you look around and make a few phone calls, you'll be able to find someone in your area to handle the polishing job for you. I would think that just about any custom chrome or plating company could handle this type of job.
Also, if you like to do this sort of thing by yourself, somewhere in the step-plate offshore only formula archives are step by step do it yourself polishing instructions... Just be aware that it takes an excruciating amount of patience, and without the right tools, I don't think they'll come out looking as good as if you just pony up and let a pro do it.
You won't regret the step-plate upgrade... Good luck!
