Default Hydromotive 4-blade QIV or QIV-X for the 242LS?!

This it what the hydromotive homepage says:

Quad IV-X
"Step bottom boats, some pad bottom boats and air entrapment hulls generally do not require bow lift. However, not all sport boats have natural bow lift. For those applications, we are pleased to announce the arrival of our recently developed Quad IV-X, four blade stainless steel propellers. At 15" in diameter, this round-eared hybrid will provide the added bow lift necessary for conventional deep"V" hulls and heavier boats with moderate power."

The Quad IV
"The Intimidator Quad IV, four blade stainless steel propellers are designed primarily for single and twin engine sport boats. Boats with good natural bow lift, pad bottom boats, both single and double ventilated step bottom hulls and air entrapment hulls are perfect candidates for the Intimidator Quad IV propellers. "

Has anyone tried both on a 242LS?

I thought the the QIV-X would be better for the heavy formula, with the bow-lift, but i read about some who got a good result with the sternlifting QIV to?

From what I've read the Bravo 1 is the best 4 blade for the 242. The Mirage Plus is the best for top speed. I am interested though to see what people think of the Hydro props on the 242.

I have not tried either. I use a thinned Bravo 1 and a thinned Mirage Plus.

Iam repowering my 242 with ah 496HO and Iam currently lookign for the right propeller. I got a Bravo 4 blade 24p and a Mirage plus 23p. They say that the QIV-X i similar to the Bravo 1. They are both bowlifting props. I wonder how a sternlifting prop woud work on a 242..

I spoke to the old guy at Drew Marine 3 years ago when I boat my 242. He seemed to know a lot about the hull design. He told me the old style Mirage would be the fastest straight line prop and the Bravo 1 would be the best overall for cruising and pulling toys. I seem to remember him saying they dont mind weight in the stern but prefer a lighter bow weight. I run a 22 B1 thinned and a 23 Mirage Plus thinned behind my 525SC Clone. I boat at 5,000' and higher elevations though..

I also use a bravo 1 22 labbed and it works great does a great job of lifting the bow. My spare prop is a mach prop four blade rounded blades more of a stern lifting, seems to get out of the hole a little easier, but I like the bravo better.

Go with the X. I tried regular Q-IVs on my 311 and didn't like the feel. The change in blade count and/or pitch will effect speed the most, but blade type will effect handling. Go with the X.

Default hydro quadIV

have 88 242ls with 650hp. hull does 72 on gps ( real hairy, runs out of bottom area ) with hydro 22" quadIV, lifts the stern right out of the "hole", at speeds 25 mph & above. Top rpm 5400 @ 72 mph. Boat attitude, ride quality & handiling much improved. Prop bite is improved, no blow whatsoever.
