Spot the multiple clues? Internal estimates are in the 72 mph range. I want one...

+1! Way cool.

t500hps 04-18-2011 12:43 PM

Ilmor.........are they putting the 725's in there???

I want one too. Except to afford it, I'd have to sell the house and live on it.

C_Spray 04-18-2011 01:03 PM

725's. US customer.

sprink58 04-18-2011 01:14 PM

Progress! No messing around in Decatur...

Imagine the shock on other people's faces when you open this hatch!

4mulafastech 04-22-2011 08:39 AM

Very nice package.

Let's hope the Decatur folks address the constructive criticism from Bob Teague on the FX5 in the latest Powerboat review regarding engine compartment rigging.

macjazzy 04-23-2011 08:03 PM

I guess the downturn has affected everyone, in the past Formula was not interested in going off their set options list at all.

Glad to see it, I never understood why a company like Formula was so rigid in respect to changes from their preset list.

I agree, a 353 with Ilmors would be awesome!

Back4More 04-23-2011 10:11 PM

I would love to see a pic of the transom when the drives get bolted on.
So did they make the one with Merc 700's/NXT's?

Back4More 04-23-2011 10:17 PM

The third one should have Whippled 525's with the Bravo conversion Arnesons.... :D

NJgr8ful 04-24-2011 10:04 AM

Saaaaweeeeet That's incredible! Thanks for pics C-Spray!

aquaforce 04-25-2011 07:44 PM

Cool pics and thanks for posting.

I'm more of a charger guy. I'd prefer the Merc 700's over the Ilmors for my boat.

pokerrunboats 04-25-2011 11:38 PM

I gues the 700 `with NXT won`t fit under the hatch since the NXT installtion brings the engine much higher than a Bravo installation

:D

DLEWIS1340 04-26-2011 03:29 PM

The x dimension on those drives looks short. They seem to be higher than bravos (i know they are bigger) and I'm starting to think that 72 may be conservative.

Did they raise the drives on this?

PhantomChaos 04-26-2011 06:08 PM

Wimps.......doing it the easy way with the deck off!!! :D They should try doing that with the deck glued on already.

Thats funny, I think you should trade your 40 for this one and put it on saylorville this summer, if we can ever get out!

My old 40 wouldn't pay for the engines on that beast!

Can't wait till we can get out ... been a long winter. I'm hoping to get a lift in my slip this year if we can get a back over to work. Should help cut down on bottom cleaning haul outs.

See you out there Dave !

I have to admit that diesels would be my first choice for a 400SS,

How attractive is the sound on a 400SS with Diesels? Never been on one. I'm guessing no silent choice exhaust option.

Diesels (Volvo Penta) are strictly through-hub. Zero clatter; they are incredibly quiet; just a very mild rumble. Once you ride on a boat with them, you'll understand why 80%+ of 400SS's are ordered with them. Great fuel mileage, too - 25 gph (total) at 40 mph.
