292 Top Speed
What are you 292 SR1 owners getting for top speed? I picked up an '89 with 330's and ordered a set of hydromotive Quad IV 24 pitch props. I'm hoping to see 62-63 with this combo. Is this wishful thinking or a realistic goal. All the info on here is about the 311 and I'm not finding much about the 292.

Come on guys! Nobody knows the performance of this boat with 330's?

A 420 TRS boat should run approx 68 |
Ive got a 272 w/ all stock 330hp's that will do 64 on gps spinning 23p quicksilvers (4900rpm). I am a little tall on rpm (I have only done it 3 times; supposed to be in the 42-4600 range) and would love to try some 24 and 25p props...
so I would think you should see at least 64-65mph |
My 1991 292sr1 with worked 502s does 77-80 mph gps.
26B1 props turning 5150 trimmed all the way out. |
I had a 90 292 with 365 mags, stainless marine exhaust 25" pitch 3 blade mirages and hit 70 gps on the best day in Florida winter. 66 in heat of summer I also added bob's nosecones as I had 89 Bravo 1 drives. The nose cones did help a little as I recall getting some blowout near 70

This summer I was able to get a GPS best of 63 MPH. That was with 330's and Hydromotive Q IV 24 pitch props at 4600 RPM's. I've got a set of Mag engines I'm going to modify to around 500 hp. I'd like to get into the high 70's maybe low 80's if possible.

You won't see low 80's unless you have @ 525hp or more.
High 70's is very possible with 475 - 500hp. Both set ups running Hydromotive Q IV 24p - 26p. You might also consider 2" Imco shorties before engine mods. They add 3-4 mph |
endeavour32 do you have any engine bay pics? curious how much room there is in front of motors compared to the 272
|
There's 10 inches of additional space measured from the timing covers to backside of the bench seat in the 292 SR1 vs 272 SR1 having B1's and BBlocks.
