My 2004 Performance Trailers Inc has a bearing that has taken a big crap.

Manufacturer is oob.

The disc brakes are Kodiak and I am hoping the bearings, hub spindle etc are the same.
Problem is, looks like the spindle is junk too, and it is welded to the axle, not bolt on stuff.

How do we deal with that?


Can a good shop cut and weld a new spindle or does the axle need to be changed,

New territory for me , not up on this stuff.

It is a tandem axle trailer, I have taken the junk off, can I tow it a couple of miles to a shop on 3 wheels??

They probably are Kodiack,I would just find out how much a new axle is if the spindle is really that bad.

Check EasternMarine.com. They will have all the parts you need. Call them; they are extremely helpful. I just bought a complete Kodiak disc brake kit there.

Yes; a good welding shop can attach a new spindle.

A good welder could do this, but bare axles are not very expensive. It wouldn't cost much more to put a new axle under it. Before I moved to Vegas, I put 3 new axles on my Eagle trailer along with Kodiak discs. Just towed it for the first time when I was back to Ohio in June and they are the cat's behind!

New axel will probably be cheaper then fixing what you have. Then you will know that everything is strait. If you need to I had Champion Trailer I think it was make mine custom. They are galvanized so that was nice.

As stated above, a new axle is the easy sure way out, if you were confident in your own welding/fab skills i'd say throw a new spindle on it, but depending on configuration someone elses labor can add up quick

I got the races off the spindle and the spindle should be ok.
I found a local dealer for Kodiak brakes and he can supply
the bearings as well.
I am going to buy a caliper/rotor kit and bearings for both sides, and just repair the damaged side and keep the other for a spare.
My boat sleeps on the trailer not in a marina so I need to get it up and running to enjoy the rest of the season.
