Tree falls on 271
We've been living from storm to storm on the E. Coast. Lots of problems with trees.
My 271 was a fantastic boat. I really don't know what to say. She was a beauty. https://picasaweb.google.com/02603se...eat=directlink |

tree
My family had a 303 that the storage building coplased on about 10 years ago, smashed widshield, torn cusions, serious glass damage on the deck, un fortunatly it wasn't enough for the insurance company to total the boat. Though the repair work was great and we ran the boat for another 2 years always had glass from the broken windshield appear after every ride. I feel for you good luck

sorry to hear/see that... Hope your Ins was paid up...
|
Insurance companies always try to get out of it. Liability is on the neighbor's homeowners. My carrier will collect from them.
It will be interesting to see how they value the asset. |
well sorry to hear, that really sucks
couple ways to handle it are, see if you can buy it back might be worth it, part it out, windshield motor, drive, bolsters if it has them etc etc, I want dibs for giving you the idea, or you may find a ride that needs power, option 2 take the insurance money and buy my 271:grinser010: |
also on side note what prop were u running and what power did you have in it

242LS - 426 hour hull, 270 hr 415 hp Gen V Mercury Racing 502 MPI, 1.50 Bravo 1, 23 pitch. I'm waiting on the Insurance adjuster before I touch anything. I fired it up on the hose Friday, then winterized. The storm happened on Saturday PM, and I didn't notice it until this morning. I'm staying away from it until the pros get here to remove the tree.
If I get fair value, I'm off to find twins for next year. I really don't want to mess with the corpse, but if the price is right, maybe. How much for your 271? its a beaute. |
well keep us posted, I hear ya were ready for a 303/312 maybe old school 292, 22k would take it now, and its got almost a brand new trailer
|
Sorry about your luck. Look on the bright side. You can now go boat shopping :)
|
That really blows. Its always a neighbors tree too, i keep my eye on one my back neighbor has especially through the hurricane. Good luck with everything.
|
Sorry to see these pics I live up in mass and the damage is bad a big limb just missed bow:eek: good luck with ins m
If you do part it out i`m looking for bolsters |
Here's the deal; Homeowners is only covering a few grand. I don't have collision on the boat. Homeowners; The tree is on the neighbors lot and there is no recourse. I needed a rider in the policy, just like what I did with my Rolex.
Get it fixed? or just bail and get another boat for next year? updated damage pictures; https://picasaweb.google.com/02603se...eat=directlink |
That does not seem right at all. That's not collision, that's comprehensive coverage. I would work with your State insurance board to go a lot deeper on this before you give up.
|
sounds like you need to make waves somebody's insurance should be picking that up, any motor damage? was the motor pushed into the stringers and cracked those? I don't know might be quite a bit to get fixed, seems like alotta cracks in the gel,
keep us posted I'd be interested in a few things if you part it as I mentioned or you can buy mine :grinser010: |
