Looked at a 292 Sr1

Went to visit family this weekend and a 292 was listed locally, boat was a pile, but niticed a few things, seems like the cabin u shape couch is almost smaller the the 272 what you guys think? good fit for us maybe in the future should I find a good deal, and what we wants not available

We started noticing how little the cabins changed in a two-foot-itis comparison which made me rule the 292 out of our step up plans. Plus I won't run anything smaller than 454 cid and the newer 292's just don't give enough more than my 242 does to make me want to try it. We are holding out to make a jump to 382 instead of the step up idea.

it atcually was a old 292

88242LS 11-15-2011 04:28 PM

it was a good fit for us, basically a 31 with platform, a 382 is too much for us(me) :lolhit: and I'm man enough to admit it LOL

88242LS 11-15-2011 05:21 PM

what speeds you guys running, this one had mags

Sam,

I was getting 72 out mine, stock 502's with EMI Thunder exhaust, and they had 800 hours em, 2 people, half or less fuel.

Go to a 311, it's just the right amount of jump from a 242. Thats what I did 8 years ago and it's been a great boat. O by the way it's for sale. Just to nice to keep no more than I get to use it. :( Propwash

Once you add a couple of kids for over nighting a 382 is not too much. You'll get there. :lolhit:

just purchased 1990 292 this year has mags I got 67 gps running 23 pitch mirage's love the boat my buddy has a 311 mine is a little smaller in the couch area and engine compartment other than that close to the same but looked at many other boats seems to have good room for a 29.

I have an '89 292 with twin 330's, it will do 63 MPH on the GPS with Hydromotive props. Great boat, 311's are nice as well but nothing wrong with a 292.

A litle of topic but.....

Endeavour what speed do you see on your 242 with 530 HP? Just bought 502 aprox 540 - 560 HP. I can not wai to get it installed and tested next summer :-)

Again sorry for the off topic

I sold my 271 Fastech April 2010 and bought a 93 SR336 with 502s and love it. I looked at a couple of 312s but the deal on the 336 was too good to pass up.
Sam I would go for a 311 before a 292.

Depending on conditions I would see between 67-69 MPH on GPS. I'd guess you'll should see 70 with your new engine! Should be fun, let me know in the spring what speed you get out of it!

Thanks for the reply :-)

A guy I know in Sweeden has done 64,4 mph (Gps)
496 HO 425 hp. I have seen the screen so it is confirmed.
This is a 242LS not SS, but anyway based on this figure
I should hopefully see 70 mph ++. I had actually thought
that you should see 70, any way 69 is very close so...

Last off topic how does the boat ride at 69 mph??

regards
From Oslo

Really well, but at that speed there is very little boat in the water.

The boat I looked at had dead batts, so I couldn't get the hatch up, how much room is in front of the motors compared to the 272?
