Default Need input 312 versus 336

I need some input from those that have owned one or both. I am looking at a 1997 312 with 454s and a 1995 336 with 502s. I know the obvious differences stepped hull, etc but am wondering if anyone has looked closely at or owned both. What are the difference in size? More cab? More cockpit? More bilge area? Also what about performance? What can I expect with the difference performane, power and stepped hull, etc. Any help is appreciated

Thanks!

I had a 98 312. From what I've seen the 336 is huge compared to the 312. The 312 is already shorter but then it seems the step actually reduced cabin height further. (seems that way compared to my 2002 382 compared to my buddies 1995 382). If the 312 has 454 mags then it will perform well and run 70-71. The non-mag will do 65 tops. Not sure what to expect from the 336.

I have an idea. Your neighbor about 2 miles down the road has a 2000 312. I'm sure he would not mind if you came by and looked at his. Maybe even take it out for a spin to get an idea of the ride. I think the 2000s have a very similar hull to the '97s.

The Fastech with steps came out in 1997. There are a bunch of different things that would make me buy a Fastech. One being that the boat is made out of a composite grid system instead of wood. No wood rot to worry about now or in the future. The only thing wood on the Fastech is the transom. Jeff Wurl

Let me check references on that guy. I've heard he's a pretty decent guy but want to make sure.
