Freshwater? If so, no real biggie IMO if you're not buying the power.

A.O. Razor 02-29-2012 07:30 PM

Not sure if I'm misreading your headline. Are you saying the Arnesons were responsible for its sinking. If yes, why?

It was an inspection plate on one of the drives that did not get retightened properly. It was missed after trying to change flywheel bolts the night before the poker run in the parking lot. They where freshly built engines that where completed just before the poker run of LCPR 2010.

Nice heading but not true and this did not happen the first day it went in the water nor when the "Rooster" video was made. The boat ran after this mishap for quite a while also as the insurance company totaled the boat after the owner had engine problems with a second engine and the insurance company totaled the boat rather than repair the motor.

The owner did not tighten the bolts on the access cover of the standoff box.

So then why label the thread as someone else's fault. Seems operator error was the cause but you tittle this :poopoo:

I never said it did. The boat sank July 2010.

Maybe my heading was misleading. I wasnt trying to imply the arneson failed in someway causing the boat to sink...It did sink because it had arneson drives which had access plates that werent tightened and caused the boat to sink. Point being if this boat had bravo's or #6 drives it wouldnt have sank BUT it clearly was operator error--no doubt about that.

what a shame, lake chelan is beautiful, was up there once when I was a kid

If it has a standoff box with a loose access cover it would have sunk. Your title is more than misleading is is b.s.

Delete the thread and start a new, with a more accurate less inflammatory title. While the boat has Arnesons, we have nothing to do with the fact that Wes did not tighten properly an access cover while he was in a rush to make a boating event. It is wrong for you to infer or to state otherwise and being you do not have a bone in this, as others stated your comments are what ruins the internet.

Philm 03-01-2012 12:57 AM

What a shame.

What kind of money would it take to get that thing running, assuming you had a couple nice used 525efis to drop in?

How fast would it run with that kind of power? I know it is a big heavy boat, but I would expect at least 80 out of it.

Not really considering it....At least I dont think I am...Ok maybe a little...
