Default Oil filter change question

Question on how hard is it to change the oil filters on 350 small blocks in a 272LS with through hull exhaust? Getting parts together to put the motors back in and considering going with the remote oil filter kits. Would add about $100 to the project cost. Doesn't seem like much, but everytime I turn around it is another $50 to $300.

AND YES I KNOW WHAT BOAT STANDS FOR!!!!!

sorry for yelling

Feedback? Do you curse and swear everytime you change them? Do you change them every time? Never thought about that, good large filter seems odd to change it every 30 to 50 hours, but that is how long people run before changing oil it seems.

Thank you,

Brian

The old motors had them right into the bottom of the block, stock location. Doesn't seem like much fun to change.

Brian,

Don't cut corners on this....do the remote mounts. On my 255 I couldn't even see my oil filters...much less get to them.

Alrighty! will order them.

what oil filter do people run? I mean, this is only a 300 hp small block, not real high strung. Just run a quality filter like a mobil 1? Really, I do not know.

Yes install them and put them in a spot that is easy to get to and clean up if you spill any when you replace them !!!

I would also order a couple of ez drain oil kits, this was you can just pull them threw the drain hole no more mess in the bilge!!

Does anyone actually drain their oil into their bilge. I would think putting one of those kits on after the engine is in the boat would be a PITA.

Much easier just to get a jabsco oil drain pump.

Where can you buy the remote mounting kits? If you buy that stuff from Mercruiser, it is almost $100 for each oil line, and the adapter that bolts to the block is like $350! And thats just for one motor!

yes, I am putting remote drains on. Want to be able to pull the hose out through the bilge drain and then drain the oil. With the motors out, this is an easier project.
