Default Late 80s, Early 90s - interior side panel restore

Sorry for my lack of pictures... but I am sure most you know what I am referring to. The side panels below the gunwales (in my case gray, red, black) need a serious touch up. Apparently Formula used some sort of preventative on the wood that bleeds through the vinyl over time.

My question is, has anyone done this? Do the panel sections simply pop off? My dark colors are fine, so was probably just going to repaint the gray panels white...

Thanks in advance!

hmmm,,, yes i suppose spray painting is a terrible idea, I should just re-wrap them in white vinyl..

So just to confirm - they pop off with some force and pop back on with some force?

negative, u need to reach into the gunnels with a wrench/deep socket and get them off, the bolts might spin if wood is deteriorated just a tad, they probably will spin, I bet u get half off easy half will be a pain, someone will need to press on the top of bolt on the outside, they will feel thru vinyl. best bet would be to make new wood
