Default Fuel Pump Advice

Ok, so the 89' 242ss (1995 454 ci) I recently purchased has a Walbro electric fuel pump (model FRB - 13) that is also hooked up to an oil pressure safety switch. The switch is faulty. I am being told that my seawater pump is different now because it is not the one that has a mechanical fuel pump attached to it???

My question is, should I just bypass or replace the oil pressure switch or consider going back to the mechanical fuel pump system.

If I go back to a mechanical fuel pump do I have to buy a new water pump as well??

Any and all advice is welcome and appreciated.

thanks
