I guess the consensus is don't move from one to the other expecting a dramatic difference unless there is a big difference in the power.

I have asked that question of two different owners that have owned both here in South Florida. The difference can't really be measured any other way but subjectively. Both the guys that I talked to said it was a toss up. The two boats are so similar in all respects that there is no advantage to be gained by swapping from one to the other.

Maybe the similarities don't differ much because Don Arronow is the father of both hull designs.

I would love to own either one ,but wouldn`t the cig maybe a little more nimble because it does not have a full cabin. Now that Formula is doing the Ilmor pkg it may be a toss up, just not sure of the cost.

The two bottoms could not be more different, The 382 has a rocker bottom, like a shredder surfboard. A cig has a much straighter line, no rocker. Formula is much more mild and forgiving, but takes more power for the same speed. The cig is looser at high speed, but faster with less power.

I had a 242LS and now have a 35 Cig Cafe Racer. No comparison between the two. The size gives the Cig an unfair advantage though. I also love the high freeboard in the Cig (and comfortable bolsters/seats/ride).

You are comparing two boats with a ten foot length difference?
