Default exhaust silencer advice

I need to quiet my exhaust a bit for the sake of protecting my 9-month-old son's ears.

Does anyone have any experience (good or bad) with any of the slip-in exhaust silencer options? I'd like to try this route first before going with a more elaborate muffler setup.

I've seen pictures of the Hardin marine slip-in's, but feel they look so restrictive with that circular plate essentially blocking the exhaust, forcing it thru the slots. Most concerning is the posts I've seen referring to the exhaust water temp increase when using these.

The GGB's slip-in's look interesting (almost like a hollow spiral pasta) but cost is about twice the hardins. If anyone has any experience using these, I would be very interested. I'm considering the 4070-205's.

Thanks for listening.

Jeff

I have a set of CMI slip on silencers that came on 271 formula fastech that I bought, it has a 650hp big block in it. I ran these silencers for a month or so and took the off to make the boat louder. I noticed no performance difference. I will sell these if your interested. I can take pics if you would like to see. I will take $400.00 for them.
