I agree....for the money this seems like the best option. Wish it had k planes but easier to add them than too swap out engines for bigger power. Hopefully it is nice in person....sent me some pics and looks pretty nice but seeing is believing.

wwolfe. Where do you do most of your boating? On Conesus? Don't think the trim tabs would be an issue then. Like in an earlier post, I wouldn't rule out a 353 if you can find a deal. Good luck in your search. Formula's are great boats.

wwolfe 10-04-2012 10:22 PM

Conesus is last resort but do spend some time there...spend most of the time on Canandaigua, Cayuga, Seneca, Keuka and Lake Ontario. Also usually couple trips a year up to Alexandria Bay. I was pretty fortunate this year and did not get into a lot of rough water until we went up to Alex Bay on the St Lawrence and my 272 with tabs held its own. Given weight of Formula, think it will not be that bad...but can always upgrade too if not satisfied

dba1062 10-05-2012 10:54 AM

Looks like we boat in the same places. We go to Conesus once a year on July 3rd. Gotta love those fireworks. Actually from Honeoye so were not that far from you. Good luck in your search.

There is a much cheaper alternative...Bennett has a longer tab 12x16 that can be trimmed off by a machine shop to clear the drives. You simply remove the 12x12's and use the Bennett installation thats already there. But hey, if you want to spend five grand for the "K"s, go for it.

dba1062 10-06-2012 01:33 PM

wwolfe. No it is euro gray, blue and gray striping. The euro gray is where the white is normally. I haven't figured out how to post a picture on here yet.

Hey it sounds like the side of the fence that might have a 312 on it...not a bad place to be!

I have a nice 93 271 that might be for sale. Stroked 496, new XZ drive, updated interior, Hyd Steering, Etc. Pm if interested

wwolfe 10-12-2012 02:24 PM

[email protected] 10-13-2012 06:59 AM

Cool! Look at the on in Charlotte NC Craigslist. 79K

Slow312 10-15-2012 08:58 AM

WWolfe thats the same graffics I had on my 2001 Formula 312. You will love that boat. Mine had 502s in it and K planes. The best GPS speed on mine was 74mph. When you get to about 70mph it will start to chine walk, after you have it awhile you will be able to drive through it, no big deal just seat time.

Good luck on the purchase

So how is the search going???

mb.

wwolfe 11-06-2012 09:24 PM

Search is still going. Heading to MI next weekend with my wife to look at a 302 Baja. I have seen the boat but she has not been in a 302 yet...only 312's. Very nice boat with tons of options/accessories. If that doesnt work out, we will be headed to MN to look at a 03 312 Fastech with 496 HO's but at this point that probably will not be till January. Would like to nail something down before spring with a deposit, but gotta be right boat and right deal financially. May even throw a wildcard in there and look at a 33ZX Donzi or 31 Sonic too....both have HP500EFI's. We will see how next weekend goes......

If i was gonna consider another brand it would have been a Donzi 33 ZX all the amenities and speed, still think you should have been to Minn already thou LOL

wwolfe 11-07-2012 05:41 PM

Love a 33ZX...but 9500 lbs!! Just a lot of boat to be trailering around lake to lake and that's the type of boating we do in the finger lakes and Lake Ontario. Wish that 312 with HO's was closer to NY....that's the biggest reason I have not made the trip there yet. Over 1000 miles away.

There is a 42 fountain in buffalo on a trailer , in storage , new trailer , new paint staggerd hp 500 steeped hul , the boat is complete needs put guages back in and the seats etc . nothing to do with motors or drives . he wants $ 50000.00 . It was rays on the island old boat
if you need info IM 88242ls knows the boat

wwolfe 11-08-2012 05:12 AM

42 fountain sounds like a lot of boat for the money, but way to big for the finger lakes I boat on and too big for where I store it. I am have a hard time parting with money and this is a lot of money for a toy used 4-5 months max a year where we live. Just trying to be totally happy and get everything I want...so we are being very picky.

Getting really close though to a decision!!!

Why not a 29fast tec?? or is that not enough of a step up from the baja 272.

Just curious :daz:

mb.

wwolfe 11-08-2012 09:14 AM

292 is a step-up from a 272 yes, but given cost of a 292 I can go to a 312 Fastech or 302 Baja for around the same $$. I would rather have the extra room in cockpit and cabin and skip over a 292. Not a huge fan of twin small blocks for whatever reason, would rather have 496 HO's or HP500EFI's and have a boat that will run mid 70's or more.

Most of the 292's I like are newer than the 312's or 302's....but basically same hours and in many cases same money or even more.
