I am officially an Idiot
So I installed a new thermostat in my port engine. I run the motor on the hose to check for leaks and I didn't get one of the hose clamps on right, leaking water. Shut down engine, shut off hose, reposition clamp and make sure tight.
Turn engine back on to check for leaks and the operation of new thermostat. Run engine for a few minutes and realize I didn't turn the water back on :poopoo: Scratch one impeller, new impeller ordered, drink beer with whiskey chaser and call myself dumb azz.:stupid: |
It's happened to all of us!

I had some one winterize my boat and they never hooked the hose up to the water pump from the pick up! I ran the motor on the hose (thank god!) and was like WTF is that freaking noise. I was checking my tranny fluid, drive fluid... Finally looked around and saw the hose in the bilge! You may get lucky and find the water pump is OK if it was still wet from when you ran it before.

When I trash an impeller, I don't mess around. The thing didn't have one vane still attached to the hub, rebuild underway.

I did the same thing minus burning it up! Luckily I was watching for water and when it didn't I pupp the hose off the thermostat housing and it wus sucking! Then swappd back... had plenty of grease when I threw it on, so i didn't toast it! :-)
