I am another firm believer in adding full hydraulic to the 292. Even with stock power.

Which 383'sare you installing? Are they mercury marine?

I have the full latham to the helm on my 292 - Definitely would not run the boat with stock steering. Hydraulic is the only way to go on this boat - especially when running 70+ on lake chop!
