Default Another Ilmor 725-powered 400SS

I just got a note from a friend in Germany that he has ordered a FX8 version 400SS with Ilmor 725/Indy power. This will be the third 400SS package with this power, but the first with the hardtop option. Should be a very cool boat.

That makes seven Ilmor-powered boats out of Formula in less than a year and a half...

figuring my parents 330SS was 400k, these have to a good bit more.

but at frist was asking speed wise. i think i remember speed was around 70mph? is that correct?

Figure 2-3 mph slower with the hardtop. Hard to figure; the extra weight won't help, but maybe it will generate enough lift to get the hull higher in the water to compensate for the aero drag! Statement has been playing with this idea on their center consoles.
