Will it work on a 242 LS? What would it take to install it? Two weeks ago, I asked my girlfreind to open the hatch, and she asked me where the button was. I told her it was the loop behind the seat.

Yes it will work... I would call Formula and find out the part#'s for yourts and mine 1986(F3LS). It has a base plate with a bolt that goes thru the bottom and the acuator mounts on that. It allows the acuator the move forward or backwards. It has a bracket you mount on your hatch also that it mounts to. It has a positive and neg. wire and thats it......I think there was a thread a while back about them. Call me if you need any info.

When I rebuilt the engine I re-did the engine compartment as well. And wanted a more "Clean" look. The actuator mounts on one side of the compartment about 3/4's of the way towards the back seat. The rod from inside the actuator attaches to the engine hatch. Im 6'2" 250lbs and I just got tired of hopping around it. While working on the engine. The thing works fine. This boat has been a fresh-water boat it's entire life so I think that has alot to do with it. I think most quys that have problems with them have been in the salt........
