what does it take to sell a 382 sr-1
 

well against my better jugement Ive decided to list my 382, "in my opition one the better looking ones out there for a 1994" and in very nice shape with some really nice new power. But to my suprise seams like very little interest here is the link to my crigs listing tell me what you think. no BS, there are a few other 382 out there that have been for sale, it seams like for ever. why ?

My initial guess would be banks aren't financing on 20 year old boats for the most part. Not many people with 55000 cash hanging around.

Also people tend to be scared of custom power. Might sell easier if you sold engines and put some stock 502s in it.

I may have no clue but they are my guesses. I personally don't want to buy a boat with custom power.

625 through a B1 pushing a big boat is another concern anyone who "knows" boats is going to have.

That being said, it is a very nice boat.

I'd also lose the pic with the dog onboard. It may not be the case, but I'd assume that the vinyl is all scratched.

I sold my 2002 382 a couple years ago and the biggest concern the buyer had was "custom power" (500efi's turned into hi compression 540's, ported heads, cam, intake work). The boat was mint and I had build sheets showing everything in the engines so he bought it (and has been very happy). I agree with everything that has been posted ahead of me.
BTW: Mine had every option except gen and I sold it for base "book value" not even including the value of the trailer. Not sure what that number is on your boat but I suspect it's much less as I.C.U Lookin suggested.

there are some 99-2000 listed at or around 65k... for ever, for over 2 years actually!

Sometimes, even if your are listed among the cheapest in the market for comparables, it sometimes is just not enough to move it!

my guess is a 2000 382 with 500's would move not at 65, but 55 is more realistic...

my restored 89 357 with custom 454-485 I sold 3 years ago for 30k, is back for sale since last may 2012, for 29 k and just does not move at all.

so my guess for yours could be... I don't know exactly but 35k to 45 k if you are very lucky ???

all the reasons noted above are valid, it does look clean and nicely updated, (graphics/engine bay) but most with that kinda cash flow will want a 98/99 with updated dash and fastech hull, there has been a 94 382 with graphics like mine for 55k for sale for a long time, there is a fine line, because alotta people who will pay 35-50k on a boat typically will want something more trailer friendly and the 382 is a beast to trailer

thanks for the advice guys, all are valid points I will have to make up my mind here soon weather to drop the price or decied to keep it a little longer.

Don't forget the longer you keep, value decreases, it's all about what your gonna do next, if the next boat is worth the loss just dump it, if you really like yours then just keep it, with the stepped Formulas coming down it's hurting older ones.... same as any other brand....

I agree with what everyone listed above it's a nice boat, do you have it listed in anything other than craigslist?
