Are they small blocks or the 502's you have listed from that nice 31 formula?

If its the 502's, it wouldn't be the right setup for me.

You would definitely be getting into the Bravo business with those!!

Seriously consider Diego's 383's. I sent you a long PM regarding Alpha to Bravo.

Got your message and THANK YOU......fantastic insight.

I'm sourcing parts right now to see if I can pull off the bravo conversion with an engine upgrade at the same time. It just makes more sense long term.

I've got a pair of stock 6.2's out of an '02 292 Fastech. One was running perfectly when I bought the boat. The other one has "0" compression, but was running. I pulled them out and put in two brand new long blocks. They are complete from oil pan, harmonic balancer, heads, etc. These engines stock are about 320 HP. Let me know if you are interested in them - I have them in a stored in a shop.

Thanks for the offer on the 6.2's. However, I have already secured two engines for the upgrade. I'm just working on getting the remaining parts needed to complete my swap.

Friend built two 509s for his 89 immaculate 272 dynoed 610 each. Boat runs an honest 84. Only spent 25K.

Let me know of anything in particular you need...Diego and I both have a decent handle on surplus Merc/Bravo stuff down here.

Default Finally starting the project

Guys,
I wanted to thank everyone for all the great information shared with me and the many PM's, phone conversations and other threads I have read.....As such, I owed you all a little follow-up. I spent the last year or so thinking about all my various options. I even debated just selling the boat and buying something else entirely. Honestly, I just couldn't come to terms spending a ton of $$ satisfying the missing performance.

In the end, I love my 272 and fits exactly what I need. I find its an exceptionally good rough water boat. While it makes ZERO financial sense, I'm moving forward with the project and hope to create something "special" for my enjoyment while also getting the old bird ready for her 30th birthday. I still have a lot of planning, shopping and work.....however, here is a teaser from my dyno sheets. I have two new 383's sitting in my garage now. The only run time is the dyno.
