Congratulations on the new boat! I remember you were considering re-powering the 292 or getting another boat. I was really hoping you would modify the 292 so I could learn a few things! Sounds like the bigger Fountain with big blocks is definitely better suited for the water you run in. I wish you had a chance to drive the 292 with K-Planes Vs the Bennett's. It is a significant improvement in handling in rough water. Probably similar to stock Vs hydraulic steering.

So how long will the 496's be stock?!! :-)

Congrats on the new boat! We strongly considered a 42, but in the end decided the 382 was a better fit for US. The Fountain is a great boat, enjoy it!

Any reason why you didn't consider a 38 fountain? A 35 just doesn't seem that much bigger then a 292 after you subtract the beak. I considered Fountain as my next boat but speed isn't the only thing I'm looking for, I want comfort too. I was at least considering a 38 from a 311.

Congrats though, buying a new boat is always exciting, no matter what kind it is.

actually that is not true,,if you look at the rake on a Fountain is a lot more steeper ,, versus another brand ,,which equals to more running surface...so if you drew a imaginery line from the beak to the keel it would be no different than any other boat..

I did, and wanted a 38. But triplets just turned 17 and its a real expensive time for me. In a few years I can get a staggered 38. Also none of the ramps by me are long enough for a 38, so that was an issue. Every one told me there would be very little difference between the 292 and a 35 fountain, that is not true. Its a world of difference.
