Just curious what insurance runs.

While on the subject, anyone have any good or bad stories about boat insurance companies?

It can run all over. It depends on the speed and age of the boat and the operator. I am 31 years old and have a Formula 302 and I have been quoted 750 a season for my boat.

I have a 1994 303SR1 and with trailer my insurance is around
$1150 a year. 1/2 year layup in winter. Contact Sy Goldberg at Total Dollar insurance. He is the man!

By the way, my boat runs great and is very easy to trailer. Good luck with your search.

Can't believe I missed it all these years.

I'm paying around $650/yr with allstate for an 89 272 with 330's and no depreciation for it being an older boat. The first year we had it we had a key made that made the ignition stick in the start position and cook the starter. Insurance covered it including having to pull the engine to get the starter off the motor. The next year we had all of the stereo gear, GPS, and tools stolen. I had a check in the mailbox 2 days after I reported it. It sucks that I had 2 claims in 2 years, but that's what insurance is for, and they were great each time.

What a salesman, he even gave me his home phone number.
Now as far as other insurance companies. Stay away from Atena. We had a small claim, one prop stolen when there was a rash of Boat parts thiefts in my area. Atena Not onl cancleed my policy, but put me/us on a "BLACK LIST" , could not get Boat Insurance for a year. Yes They do have a BLack list.
Also State farm has my house, chevy truck, Dodge Ram truck, wifes, SS-Z28 camaro, will not insure my 1984 Formula 242
with twin Small blocks. I quote" It is listed as doing One mile per hour faster than there Limit.

I insure thru Sy also....$1200/yr '97 312 Fastech w/twin 454 mag MPI 385hp. Per State Farm, if it runs over 55 mph, they won't insure it!!!
Last year, I insured the following with State Farm....
three houses,
wave runner.
fishing boat
pontoon boat
252SS Formula- 75 mph
two ATV's
2001 Supercrew
'97 Mustang Convert.
All would run over 55 mph!!! Go figure...... Sy also beat the best quote an independent agent gave me. AND, it is for 12 months usage....no layup required.... SY's the GUY!!!

Same deal as toolman...Sy Goldberg at Total Dollar. 6 Months lay-up, F 303 SR1, around $1200 a year. Required both stern and prop locks. While it's on the trailer, needs to be anchored to something. The rate includes the trailer as well. Great to deal with Sy! State Farm, Nationwide, and North Country wouldn't touch it with a 10 foot pole!

The individual agents must have a say in what gets insured with State Farm. I've heard all kinds of stories about what they won't insure.
I have a 357 SR-1 with 425hp 454s and a high performance snowmobile insured with them. A friend of mine with a different agent couldn't get a similiar sled insured.
I have alot insured with them and always go in person to pay. Maybe that makes a difference?
