Formula 311 - Purchasing this spring - Need your help!!

I have been looking to purchase a nice 311 for the last two years ... I finally have the cash on hand and am looking forward to pulling the trigger on a boat this spring ... Let me know what you guys (and ladies) see in your various areas of the country .. I would like to stay "fresh water boat" if possible, but I would not rule out a "salty" if the deal is great. I live in Michigan ... currently 6 degrees :+(

Obviously, budget is always of concern ... but I would consider around 30K for the right boat ... I don't want a headache ... I want a turn-key boat :+)

kevlar382 03-17-2014 11:48 AM

A 311 is a great boat for the price range you want to be in. There a some really nice ones in West Michigan, let me check around and will get back to you.

Roody727 03-17-2014 12:02 PM

Thanks!!! I have waited 20 years to get this boat ... I can wait another month or two to find the one I want ....

Roody727 03-17-2014 01:35 PM

Anyone seen this boat first hand?

Looks nice on the outside ... his description of the cabin is not selling it very well ...

For just a little more you could get into a fiberglass grid boat with the fastech hull design - they started building them that way in the late 1990's. No wood stringers to worry about. They start about $40,000 and go up from there.

38fountainecman 03-18-2014 02:59 PM

The offshoreonly classified boat does not appear to have McCloud bolters. I wouldn't own a Formula without the McCloud bolsters, best seats in the business, bar none. I owned a 1990 292 SR1, a 1986 357 SR1 and a 1997 419 Fastec and I miss my McClouds!!!! I think the 311 is possibly the best boat Formula ever built, had the oportunity to run Key West waters in one and the ride is incredible for any sized boat. Good luck in the search.

Thanks for the info .. I'll remember that when I check out boats!!

Let me know if you guys see any in your local areas this weekend ... thanks!!

kevlar382 03-20-2014 07:45 AM

You might want to consider looking at 303. It might not have the flat deck look of the 311, but is a little more user friendly and a really nice boat for about the same price. Just a thought.
I'm waiting for a couple of 311 owners to get back to me about there boats, will keep you informed.

http://sandusky.craigslist.org/boa/4326152717.html not a 311 but sounds nice, Stepped hull, MPI motors, turn key as it gets Or this is cool to http://rochester.craigslist.org/boa/4380438986.html

buckknekkid 03-20-2014 05:41 PM

Bolsters are not original. Im getting my complete interior done now, its not too expensive.

Roody727, meant to say you might want to consider a 336 SR1 instead of a 311, not a 303. The 303 is a great boat but the 336 is closer to the 311 in size. If you get a chance PM me sometime, I know of a boat you might want to look at.

No wasn't thinking of Rob's, didn't know that it is for sale but you are right about his boat, it is very bad a$$. I would say it is one of the nicest if not the nicest 336s out there. One of the boats I thought he might be interested in is Mike's 292 SR1. One of the cleanest used boats any where. Somebody is going to get a beautiful Formula. As you know some of the nicest used Formula's are here in west Mi.

Roody727 03-25-2014 07:54 AM

I was targeting a 311, based on the size/cost ratio .... However, a 292 or 336 is not out of the question.

86242ls 03-25-2014 10:26 AM

a lot of nice stuff coming out of Missouri loto area, its where I picked mine up from, Here is a link to 2 powerboatlistings... http://www.powerboatlistings.com/view/23320 http://www.powerboatlistings.com/view/21484

Roody727 03-27-2014 06:58 AM

Going to look at a local 292 this weekend ... I have been on a 272 and a 311 ... want to make sure the 292 fits our needs for space ...

pgolder 03-27-2014 02:55 PM

I might consider selling my 311

Roody let us know, I must apologize, usually i'm on top of all listings, however my app on my phone has stopped working, not sure if i'll get it back as it sounds like it was because of legalities, which sucks Ive had this app for years and cant find another even close

Sick Stinger 03-27-2014 03:37 PM

How about a 302 SR1 it's an 84

bajacountry 03-27-2014 10:04 PM

If you pick the 311 you will love it. It's a great riding boat. I would suggest looking for one with the 454 mags or 502 engines. They're no rocket ship to begin with, and with the 330's you may be longing for more power with the heavy boat. You should easily be able to get these motors in a clean 311 in your price range.

dba1062 03-27-2014 10:30 PM

There is a 311 in Rochester NY craigslist asking 31900 obo. Says it's a freshwater boat. I would agree with Kevlar 382 that there are nice boats in Western Mi. I purchased his old 311. I owned a 272 before that and also looked at a 292 before going with the 311. The 311 is a better riding boat imo than the 292. Good luck in your search.

Roody727 03-30-2014 10:02 PM

It was really nice to meet you and your family Jeff. If that 292 won't work we can find you something that will. Have a safe trip to Fla. Hope you have great weather.

kevlar382 03-31-2014 01:34 PM

Roody, maybe you can get dba1062 to sell you his 311. Its for sure one of the sharpest and cleanest ones out there.

Roody727 04-02-2014 10:31 PM

Are all the 311's still stuck in the snow?

Roody727 04-11-2014 07:56 AM
