New member with pic and question about speedometer

I just bought a 1998 Formula 280 Sun Sport. It has the single 7.4MPI LX with Bravo III drive. The boat is in excellent condition and there are only a few minor things that I need to do to bring it back to almost-showroom condition.
The speedometer doesn't work. I figured that it was just a clogged pilot hole, but after spending a while today with some dental picks and a pipe cleaner I put the boat in the water and it sill doesn't work.
I briefly checked the connection to the small black hose and it seems ok.
What should my next course of action be?

Welcome! Sweet boat, always loved the SS. Where do you go out of??
Check out www.cbpba.com to see what's going on around the Bay-lots of stuff around Annapolis.
Tinker has the right idea. If you have a really good friend get them to blow into the hose at the back and see if the speedo moves
Or screw it and get a nice GPS speedo from Gaffrig-much cooler and an opportunity to spend money on the boat

Thanks for the compliment insptech.
I keep the boat at Bert Jabin's Yacht yard. I use his boatel service though the boat is stored on a ground rack because it doesn't actually fit in the boatel. I really like the boatel concept since the boat has no bottom paint and a perfect hull. Just call ahead and when I get there (2 minutes from my house) I just turn the key and go.
Where are you?
