Your HP loss computed from your HP of 320 at sea level and Elevation of 5000 feet is 48.00 HP loss.

Who doesn't think he doesn't needs smaller props now ? and/or more gear ? or Nitrous ? LOL.

Stimleck - why don't you try helping the OP ?

How would you like the next time you have a question that you want help on, some of us just tell you your boat is a hunk of schit so why bother ?

Did you read my post just above your last one ?

That's help.

Just because 3 or 4 of you suckers are driving he same chitty hull doesnt mean its justified, when you are doing 90 or are more than 38 feet you can then make excuses for chitty performance
Not even worth a response. You are simply mean spirited and obviously interested in yourself. Go away.

My boat is over 38 feet, does 94 MPH at 3600' elevation, 98 MPH in the ocean and I have the same "chitty" hull as everyone on this thread. I don't need to make excuses though, it performs great! I pass cats all day long when the water gets rough, the rougher the better!

I'm still not sure what prop drop I need for my elevation. Formula says 24Ps for 5000 ft. on up. Will try to contact bblades for another opinion, seems 28Ps are for sea level.
4" of pitch is going to give you "roughly" 800 RPM. every inch of pitch is worth about 150-200 depending on the boat. So, as someone posted, going down toward sea level you will be bouncing off the rev limiter. I'm not sure what the 6.2's limit is set at, but you will be close to/at it with the 24p. I'd believe what Formula told you.on prop pitch.
and yes, 24p will make the boat plane a lot faster.

This is REALLY important. The 271 and the 292 both came from Formula with the spacer toward the rear of the drive. They did this to stop bow steer.(according to their tech reps and told only after I told them I had switched it. They weren't happy to admit it) My 271 was a pain in the azz to get on plane till I moved it to the front. then it was much better. Still not a drag boat by any means but way better. My 271 with a full load of people still did not like getting on plane without some people moving forward. when the motor was redone, even with 630 HP, it was drive in, tabs down, 3000 until it rolled over and then go from there. The 292 and 271 are very similar in planing ability.
