Monaco, congrats on the boat, I have ridden on a 271 and they are nice boats. I noticed the K-planes are placed horizontal, did the previous owner do this, maybe to help with chine walk at high speed with the blower?
Also, I noticed the transom of the boat extends well past the last rollers, this is not good for the hull and should be fixed (you may know this, but I just wanted to mention it) Again, enjoy the boat, and the way it is strapped down, it looks ready for some high speed off roading behind the truck (Just playing haha) |
Thanks Mr Main
You are right, the K planes are placed horizontal to help the chine walk , which happens with the 271 SR1 when you reach 70+ mph, and it helps. :-) I did not buy the trailer, but do you really think that this is a problem, in Norway most boats are transported like this :-/ I hope that I will reach a top speed between 65 - 67 mph :-) |
The boat does 85 mph with the current blower engine :-) so the K- planes are needed :-)
|
Haha, I bet that is a ride at 85, and I'm sure those horizontal kplanes are put to use at those speeds.
With 540 horse you should be close to if not over 70mph. Without support to the transom, a hook can develop creating a concave area in front of the transom which affects handling and top speed. I'm surprised that is common over your way, as here in the states you don't see that unless it is just a temporary trailer or something. |
We have very strange rules for trailers in Europe especially Norway.
Imagine hydraulic brakes are not allowed ???? The weight at the tow bar must not be more then 150 pounds ?? The width on the trailer need to be less then 2,5 meters = 6,5 feet. wider trailers are registrant end as special transport etc... So it is ... |
