Default Subwoofer in a 330SS

I'm planning out a stereo upgrade and the sub has me stumped. Has anyone installed one in a 330SS? What did you put in and where did you put it?
Thanks,
Aaron

Mount it under the back seat, just behind the dual helm seat, firing down towards the floor.

That was my first thought but the clearance sucks, I did a quick drawing and because of the slope of that seat I only have about 4.5" of depth in the box and 3/4" of space between the floor and the face of the sub... Have you done this before? What sub did you use? Thanks, Aaron

I saw it on a customers boat a couple years ago, seemed like a good place since none of the storage compartments were used. Another option would be using square subs maybe 4 8" below the engine hatch and mounting a box behind that wall in bilge???

Yeah that won't work either, that wall is like 6" tall and I have a getset sitting right behind it... I'm gonna have to remeasure under that seat and see what I can do. I'm trying to take up as little storage space as possible.

If space is an issue under the seats or in the bilge area, maybe there's room in a floor compartment? Foot wells?

Maybe some pictures would help us help you.

Good luck!

How much do you use the storage compartment under the passenger half of the dual helm seat? We use that so little we forget it's there.

There isn't storage under the helm seat... At least I don't recall any. Now you got me thinking... if you are referring to the big storage compartment under the seat on the port side that would be a last resort, for as big as the boat is storage does seem to be at a premium. Another thought was to put it down below under the bed, we leave it down all the time anyway, I'm just concerned that I wouldn't be able to hear it, even with W7's or something similar.

Alindquist: Maybe Formula has changed the design of the passenger half of the dual helm seat. I'm not talking about the Port side seat by the windshield wing, between the sink and the cuddy hatch, which had storage for scuba tanks. On our boat, there is a storage compartment under the passenger half of the dual seat. Only the drivers half folds up to form a standing/leaning bench, and the passenger half is always a seat. Sounds like that is not how your 330SS is built.

Anyway, you might look closely at that area, and find room to add a spot for your woofer, even if you have to build out.
