User Mohawk242 and I doing some late season prop testing. We built up a 454 to similar specs as the HP450 & HP500 last winter. 2 way pass average on GPS was 69.5mph at 5400rpm. With the stock 365mag he was 57mph. This was with a 23 mirage plus.
Tried a non-plus 25 mirage, didn't really like it lost bite and cruise speed wasn't any better. Maybe less cup couldn't carry the bow in the smooth water?
Tried a 25 mirage plus, brought the rpms down to 4900-5000ish, lost a couple mph on top speed. I think the motor just isn't making as much power at the 5000rpm range.
Note the silent thunder platform is temporarily off for a repair. Much louder but no performance change.
It seems most stock 502mag 242s run 62-63 so he is definetly making the horsepower because he can run quite a bit faster than this.
I will let him chime in, but since I took the videos, I figured I would make a post on it.
