Default '89 272 - Replace Engine hatch mirrors or diamond plate?

I have been playing with the idea of putting polished diamond plate / check plate in the engine hatch rather than replacing the acrylic mirrors on my 1989 272 SR1. Has anyone done this? if so, anyone have any pictures? would love to see what it looks like with polished flame arrestors. Also, thickness of the diamond plate would be helpful, and any info regarding replacing the mirrors would be useful. I clicked on some old links from searching the forum and I didn't get anywhere or the links were no good.
Located in Leamington Ontario, Canada (lake erie).

Thanks!

I put some diamond plate in my engine compartment and on the hatch. You can see pictures on a thread a few pages back. "New to offshoreonly "
