How Many Delaware River/Chesapeake Bay Formula Owners Are There?
Just curious, how many Formula owners here on OSO boat either on the Chesapeake, Delaware River, or Delaware Bay area?
Trying to gauge if there is or would be any interest for a Formula owners meet and greet or maybe even a plan a rendezvous of some kind in this area. |
One right here Split. Wendy and I are in for sure....Hope something can be put together.

badmonkey, we'll see you in Jersey! Looking for those that can't trailer or make the trip to Jersey waters and only boat in these areas. We're looking to expand, really get out there to try to bring back that Formula family lifestyle that has made and kept Formula on top as one of the most respected brands out there.
|
Split and badmonkey,
There is a Chesapeake Bay Rendezvous each year for the past 3 or 4 years. This is usually in August or early September. Has been over in Stillpond (inside) the last few years. It was initially started by C-Spray here on OSO and also well publicized on formulaboatsforum. Go to the rendezvous section there and you will find the threads for the last few. That's not to say there can't be an impromptu get together anytime during the season though. :ernaehrung004: |
I own a 311 but it's in pieces if anybody is local I have some questions . One is does.anybody know someone who does seat recovering

We know about the still pond rendezvous and plan on attending this year if there is one, but just feel there are a lot more owners in that area that we are missing out on. So trying to gauge where would be an appropriate place for an impromptu gathering for owners that majority could attend. C&D? Annapolis? Still Pond? Philly? Just want to know where your at so we can plan accordingly.
So let us know where your at if your from this area. |
Sparrow point Md. open to running anywhere in the bay.

Inrecovery - I started this thread to see if there was any interest in Formula owners of the Delaware River/Chesapeake area getting together. With only 7 posts, I'm not seeing a whole lot of interest. I'm part of a larger Formula Owners group in Jersey. Really we were just looking to meet up with other owners to introduce ourselves and spread of the word of what we do and some of the events we put on during the course of the summer for our fellow Formula owners.
A few people in the MD area have expressed interest in attending our Formula Rendezvous the weekend of August 22nd this year in Brick, NJ at Comstock Marina. I believe Bad Monkey on here will be towing in and Treads will be making the loop from Middle River up to Brick in his 34PC. We've yet to turn down anyone, so if you can make it we'd love to have you. If Brick is too far for you, we friend of ours also puts on a Rendezvous in Atlantic City in July. If interested check out FormulaBoatsForum.com for more information regarding that weekend. |
Hey Split... there are quite a few passionate Formula owners in my marina (Neshaminy State Marina in Croydon, PA) that I know would be love to do a rendezvous in the Delaware/C&D area. One of them actually was a Formula transporter from the old Trenton dealership to boat shows along the east coast.
Without even doing some heavy recruititing, I could guarantee half a dozen or so. Most of which I am sure do not use the Formula websites to see these postings. This would include my 242 along with a 330 SS, 311 SR1, 41 PC, 26 PC, 29 PC, 34 PC. Lacking some fastechs.. but that's where you come in. You know how to reach me if you are trying to organize something... could be fun if we booked up the marina in Philly or Chesapeake City. |
I have no problem bringing the 292 back to the river for a weekend this summer to meet up with everyone. I haven't been on the river with my 292 since I left Trenton. I'm sure we'll talk more DRock in the coming month. Always nice to meet passionate Formula owners like ourselves, so I look forward to it.

I'm always willing to meet up but keep in mind I have the heaviest and slowest boat on this forum! LOL.

I started this thread because our Formula Owners club was trying to extend out to more owners in other areas. We started out as Formula Owners of New Jersey but we haven't confined ourselves to just within the state lines. I'm actually from PA, just happen to boat on Jersey waters. We've taken trips down to Florida and have tried to reach out to Formula owners down there as well. We are really just about meeting other owners, having a good time, sharing stories, and promoting the boating family lifestyle that made Formula the brand that it was and still is. A lot of us from Jersey are trailerable, so we are always looking for new waters to explore. Always helps to know people familiar with those areas that we can reach out to them for advice or recommendation of places to go and stay too. We host and partake in several Formula inspired events during the summer, we'd be happy to bring the reinforcements to your area as well if the interest is there. badmonkey is familiar with our group, Chris was supposed to join us this past summer to see what we were all about, but unfortunately things come up and he couldn't make it. We try our best to keep everyone informed as to what is going on and what we are doing. I spent this past New Years' with IDCE(Clubs founder) and we were already discussing what things we can do for this upcoming season.
Keep the interest and conversation going on this thread and we'll see how we can make it happen and hopefully bring the Northeast Formula owners together this summer. |

Hoping to get the chance to meet up with some of you guys this year! Still so much work to do before spring.

I'm right at the C&D canal on the Delaware River, actually Salem River, but I'd be up for a get together.
|
I am on the Choptank River on the Eastern Shore and head out to the bay frequently up to the Kent Island area. Wouldn't mind towing to a different spot for a meet up. Have another buddy over on the Severn with a Formula as well.
|
I like seeing these trailerable Formula's. Keep in touch this summer. If you want to stay up to date on our activities check out Formula Owners of New Jersey on Facebook or if your not a Facebooker check out our website at the link below. http://www.formulaownersofnewjersey.com/welcome-12.html

Thunder on the Narrows date has been posted!
http://www.kentnarrowsracing.com/ Anyone down for scheduling a meet up on one of those days, weather permitting? I usually leave from Denton, MD around 0800 and ride the Choptank River down to Cambridge, MD and hook around Tilghman and Poplar Islands into the Eastern Bay then up to the Narrows and hit the Jetty for breakfast around 0930. Last year we had that storm on Saturday but Sunday was beautiful. We can play it by ear. Let me know. |
Sounds good to me.
where do you launch? Is there safe truck and trailer storage? |
That sounds like a good possibility! Have a lot of trips and poker runs planned for this year, now that we can keep up a bit better!

I was actually thinking the ride down the Choptank River from Denton would be a fun little trip.

Yes, Absolutely. We will need to coordinate where to meet so we can all run together for a bit. The narrows are less than 20 minutes from us so I will probably run out early south down the Bay and hook up with you guys at the mouth of the Choptank and run up Eastern Bay with you all to the narrows so we can get some running time.

Sandy Point State Park is good if you don't feel like taking a long ride. There are a few ramps on Kent Island and they are usually packed. You can also launch off on the Chester or Wye Rivers. The ride from Denton is a great time, everyone thinks I am crazy doing it every year but I like to stretch the legs on Distant Thunder once in awhile, it's a fun run, a little less than 1.5 Hours at 40 MPH. The ramp is Denton is good and safe. Either way, we should all try to meet up.
Just so everyone is also aware, the Formula Owners of NJ will be hosting our 7th Annual Formula Rendezvous this year on Saturday July 2nd & 3rd. Yes it's 4th of July weekend, but the 4th isn't until Monday. We will be at Comstock Marina again and just like last year. Formula owners are encouraged to arrive on Friday July 1st, Saturday, July 2nd, will be the big day with all the planned activities. That leaves everyone with the 3rd and 4th to get back to your local waters or attend any planned family picnics or functions or if you would like to hang join us for a little fun run around Barnegat Bay and to a local hangout spot. Hopefully we can convince all the trailer able Formula's we meet to make the trip across Jersey and up to Brick. |
My wife just showed me a post on FB and the newspaper that Thunder on the Narrows is cancelled this year. There is the boat races in Cambridge still scheduled this year but we will see what happens with that. Still should try and do a meet up of some sort in the Narrows.
Talking to the wife about the NJ rendezvous tonight. I need to find a new trailer or fix mine first. |

I just sold the 242 but hopefully I find my 311 in time for this Chesapeake rendezvous.. There was a descent showing last year at Fairleee Creek of passionate Formula owners so we should be able to get a nice crew for a trip through the Narrows. Rock Hall is also a nice spot to drop in because its in the middle of Fairlee Creek and Annapolis/Kent Island....for a full action packed weekend!
If anyone knows of a solid 311 for sale.....dont be shy! |
Congrats on the sale. There are plenty of boats out there, we'll keep an eye out.
|
That sounds great, Rock Hall is nice, good cruise down to the Narrows. I'll keep my eye out for a 311, I am always on the lookout for a 292. How far are you willing to travel to find one?
