Mounting bolsters f-242ss
 

Purchasing a used set of mcleod bolsters (vintage spring type) from a formula to mount in my 1987 242ss.
Question, how do they mount to the gunnel? Most pics i found only have legs on the inboard side.
Also how are they secured to the floor?
Any help would be greatly appericiated.

They mount to the gunnel using an L bracket, you'll have to drill three holes to mount it. The rest bolts to the floor.

Any chance of pics of what i need and how it mounts?
Also, on the floor what type of fasteners are used? Screws/lags/t-nuts/thru bolted w/nylocks?
One last request. Measurement from leg holes on floor to verticle line from gunnlel mount. (location of holse from side of boat)

Its great to see you picked up a set of these, you will love them. As said the seats should come with the L brackets that connect to the underneath the bolster then get bolted to the gunnel. The leg of the bolster needs to be attached to the floor. Most of the LS models came with a piece of aluminum under the floor that you could drill and tap. In the SS model you will want to pull up the center board that covers the gas tank add the piece of aluminum, use some 5200 to hold it in place and you`ll be go to go. Since most SS did`t come with bolsters it will be trail an error to figure out what is most comfortable for you and you passenger.

Masi242, great info exactly as i was looking for. Love your boat looks as it should and makes me feel like boating!!!
How much clearance between bottom of floor and fuel tank, any idea?
Thanks for the good words, i think the bolsters with other helm upgrades will set my ss apart form the rest.
I am toying with the idea of only installing driver side and leaving the camping feel to the passanger area. Who knows?

I dont remember at least a couple of inches. Wish I could go boating but with about 3 feet of snow it won't happen for a while.

With the center panel out you can measure from the top of the tank to get a number but as I remember from taking mine out you will have plenty of room. If your sunpad/seat is still in good condition it would still be a cool piece to use. Mine was gone when I got my boat and both were captains chairs already.

Glen the ss has the storage hatch in the floor unlike the Ls you may need to move up the brackets for the floor or never use the hatch again let me know what you end up doing I have a Ls and an ss I can help and have also thought about bolsters in an ss
