BIRDS on the BAY Formula Rendezvous Weekend 2015
Over the next few weeks we will be finalizing our new revamped BIRDS on the BAY Formula Rendezvous Weekend. It will be at a new location, new activities and also there is a charity now involved. So instead of just hanging around great people and amazing boats we are there supporting a cause!
Help us out! Would you like to see the end of June 27-28th or end of August 29-30th? For the last 3 years it has been help on Labor Day Weekend, but part of the revamping process we are moving away from a Holiday weekend. Please share your thoughts, ideas, etc. Sooner we get a consensus sooner we can get some firm plans set. Out of state attendees, the new location will have a ramp nearby, safe parking, and also lift access incase you do not want to dunk your trailer. There will be slips to accommodate ALL size boats. https://fbcdn-sphotos-f-a.akamaihd.n...04728950_o.jpg |
hmmm,
|
Count us in for sure. June or August work for us. Of course the June dates fall closer to my birthday...but its not about me...lol. We look forward to it. Thanks for extending the invitation.
Chris |
Let's go 88242LS. U got that new truck, time to put some miles on her and hit those jersey waters. I think everyone will like what has been planned this far. As IDCE said, stay tuned cause there is def more to come.
|
We will c how she pulls, I would love to come down, see if the pieces fall into place,
|
This being the 6th year we've learned a lot. We know we can't control the weather, especially those afternoon winds out on the bay. We know we want everyone to have a good, safe, and enjoyable time. We have listened to what people have said they like and don't like from these past years. IDCEs plan so far is something I'm sure all who attend will enjoy and it will be for a good cause too.
All you got to do to help out, is just show up and enjoy. So be sure to let us know if a June or August date works best for you. |
Been quiet for 5 days... no additional interest out there from anyone or anywhere?
|
Split and I met with the guys at, New Jersey's Formula Dealership, Comstock in Brick, NJ yesterday discussing this years Birds on the Bay Rendezvous. We have pretty cool things to share with you detail wise. Once we organize it I will post them up.
We are still torn between June and August and are looking for more input from possible attendees. Also to help the planning process please chime in if you are interested in joining this year. |
We will definitely attend. June dates are best for us. If the August dates are a better fit for masses then we will figure it out on our end. Looking forward to it.
Thanks, Chris |
Badmonkey after your PM about June not working anymore and also talking to a few others I think we are leaning towards August 22-23.

IDCE and I have some work ahead of us, but we're up for the challenge. We met with Comstock to get the location all squared away, now we just need to get the official date locked in and just get a few things finalized and set in stone. We know August is a ways away, but the only unknown at this point is how many Formula's we are going to have. If there is any interest at all, post a comment, send us a PM, or RSVP to [email protected]. Only thing we ask in return is that you just help in getting the word out about The Birds on the Bay Formula Rendezvous.
|
Well "It Dont Come Easy" overheard that the dates were set for the 6th Annual BIRDS on the BAY Rendezvous and SHE LIT RIGHT UP! (Is it warm yet???) btw locked in the dates are officially August 22-23!

I may not be able to haul my boat up this year. However, I am going to try to attend. If so, I will be there alongside my good buddy bad monkey!
|
I.D.C.E and Split,
Discussed with the Bride and we will be making the trek from Middle River up to Comstock for the rendezvous, if we welcome. Thought it may be nice to see how all of you New Jersey peeps put on a party. BTW, Aug 23rd is our 30th Wedding Anniv, for what that's worth. |
Treads you are always welcome. Happy that you and your wife are deciding to spend your 30th anniversary with us.
For what it's worth, it's really promising that we are attracting so many new faces from outside of the area. You're bringing the 34 right? Maybe others who were on the wall about making the solo trek from your area will now be enticed and maybe tag along for the ride. There is always comfort when traveling in numbers. If you or anyone has any questions please feel free to reach out. We promise to have some more details soon regarding the Rendezvous weekend. |
Sounds like a good time. Any room for a 85 302 kaama?
|
Kaama's....uhhhh yeah. I'll give up my spot if needed. LOL
Our rendezvous in years past have been dominated by yachts and PC's. We got a good core of Fastech's A couple 292s, a 271, and a 312. We've picked up a 272 SR1 as well over the years, but that's about it. Always welcoming of more go fasts to the mix. So we'll be more that happy to have you down from MA if you can make it. Let us know what if any information you need. You can shoot IDCE or I a PM or send an email to [email protected]. Happy to answer any questions you may have. |
Last year's rendezvoue kicked @$$... Elyse and I will be attending with the 242!!

Not sure what the schedule for the summer is like yet. But I love exploring new water and this would be a great excuse to come down to the shore. I will be in touch. |
Ok sooooo we are working hard at some "things" for the event that I cannot divulge anymore details on as of yet. However we have some real special things being planned out that I know we are all going to enjoy the heck out of.
As a side note... 18 Formulas have reached out to FOONJ and committed to the BOTB already without any other details than the date! The fact this will be out 6th annual speaks for itself. Birds on the Bay will be an event you will not want to miss if you are a Formula owner and event you will envy if you are not! LOL Stay tuned! Keep sharing your interest in joining the fun. Plus trailer boaters a ramp is stone throwing distance from the Rendezvous location and safe rig parking available. |
Just sent an email. Need more info on the ramp and parking. Coming down from Mass

Additional Information:
For our Trailerable Formula Owners - There is a ramp stone throwing distance away from Comstock Marina in which you can drop in at and there will be rig parking on Comstock premises. There will be plenty of trailer boat owners around to lend a hand if needed. Just let us know in advance you will be trailering in and we will make sure the proper accommodations are available for you. If you do not want to dunk and want to be lifted, you would have to schedule that through Comstock's Service Department. Please if anyone has any questions, ask! We will address them on here so potential attendees will be able to view them and possibly address their concerns also. |
Yes please ask any and all questions. This is an open forum so let's get and keep the discussion going. We want to hear from you. Truly our goal would be to have ever Formula owner in attendance, but we know that's just not possible, but for those with the means to attend we want to do our best to get you and your Formula here. So let's us know what you need or what's holding you back so we can try our best to accommodate.
|
Wendy and I will be trailering in for the event. I have no problem with dunking her. Will touch base as we get closer to the event to get specifics. Thanks guys for everything you are doing to make this event be great.
|
GREAT NEWS! To all trailer boaters that are coming in or thinking about making the tow. Sherman Boat Basin, which is the the marina next to Comstock with the boat ramp, has just told me they donated access to their ramp for Formula Owners that are attending BOTB. They heard about what we are doing and has helped FOONJ in our efforts. They usually charge $30 roundtrip!
|
Looking forward to it. Save me a seat on the 35 Chris!

OK, so the plan for Treads-N-Water is this.
Wed Aug 19th, leave Middle River and head to Cape May. Stay Wed and Thur night. Fri Aug 21, run from Cape May to Comstock. Stay Fri, Sat and Sun nights. Mon Aug 24, head south to Atlantic City. Stay Mon, maybe Tues night. Wed Aug 26, Atl City to Chesapeake City. Stay Wed night. Thur Aug 27, Ches City to Georgetown on the Sassafras. Stay Thur, Fri night. Sat Aug 29, cruise back to Middle River. If there is anyone from Atlantic City considering the run up Friday, we would certainly welcome cruising along, as these are waters we haven't run in, not that its a concern. For that matter, anyone running from anywhere along the way is welcome. Looking forward to this extended trip and meeting everyone along the way. Likely staying at Canyon Club in Cape May. Any recommendations for Altantic City marina would be helpful from anyone. Chesapeake Inn for the overnight in the C&D. Likely Skipjack in Georgetown, grab the shuttle to Kitty Night House for Dinner and music on the deck Friday night. |
Now that is a trip!!! Looking forward to meeting all the new faces this year.

Likely Skipjack in Georgetown, grab the shuttle to Kitty Night House for Dinner and music on the deck Friday night. Atlantic City only gives you one option marina wise. That is the Farley State Marina which is ran by the Golden Nugget. They have fuel, food, pretty good ship store with a little grocery section. There are options outside AC further south or north but if you are going through that area it's a nice stop to check out what AC has to offer. The Golden Nugget Casino is right across the street and Harrahs is walking distance. There are cabs always available to move you around AC if you want to go to the boardwalk or other Casinos also they have the Jitney bus but the cabs are the quickest easiest transportation. As far as who is coming up from the AC area to the Rendezvous, I know Gadgetized which is a 34PC will be coming out of Bass River Marina which is a few minutes away from AC. I am not sure if he is running up with the family on Friday or Saturday morning early. One year he also ran up with Double Dip which is a 37PC, which I have not got a commitment from them as of yet but we still have lots of time! Shoot most boats aren't even in yet here! |

Nice article Matt Trulio wrote in Speed On The Water for this years BOTB. Sponsors are in place to have a special event, we need the support and attendance of Formula Owners to reach our goals!

We've sparked a lot of new interest so far with this new format and design to the BOTB. Looks as though we will be welcoming a bunch of new members to the family at the BOTB Rendezvous, but we still have plenty of room and slips for more.
So when you're making that list of destinations you want to hit with your Formula this summer, as your pulling off that tarp, fisher canvas, or cutting away the shrink wrap and starting those motors for the first time this season, we want to know if the 6th Annual Birds on the Bay Formula Rendezvous Weekend is on top of that list? If not, lets hear why? Maybe we can convince you otherwise. |
