Hi Fellow Formula Fanatics!

I've been trying to sell my 1995 252LS for the last month or so and it's been really frustrating... I've seen a few tire kickers and people just looking for a boat ride. It's quite frustrating because the boat is stored on a covered lift at a marina that's about an hour from my house. I schlep there, get everything prepped to launch/go for a ride, take them out on the water, then it usually goes something like this:

"Wow, this really is in awesome shape! Too bad it doesn't have a sink in the cabin, my wife really wants that." (um, unless it's streaming bleach, I'll pass on using water from a 20-year-old system, thanks)

"You take really great care of this boat! My wife would prefer a cruiser, but I thought I might like this style better. Maybe I can change her mind" (Yeah, good luck with that)

"Looks nice and clean, exactly as you've described, but my wife wants something with a bit more room. We need the SS because the seating will be better. But, if you'll knock $6,000 off your price, and I've got the cash in the car right now, we'll make do with the cramped cockpit." (And that cash can stay in your car because that's not happening. Plus, didn't the 12 pics I've posted point out that this is NOT an SS???)

"The color scheme makes it look a little dated, like from the 90's. You think I scrape off the stripes on the side?" (That's Imron paint... good luck trying to "scrape" that off)

Or my favorite:

(The guy didn't even come to look at it... just saw the ad and emailed/called/texted about 100 times) "Pictures Looks great. If you still have it in two months and are willing to drop the price by $5000 out of desperation, I'll consider it. I just can't afford it at your current ask" (No words)

I'll be completely honest and say that I've only been trying halfheartedly... One craigslist ad that I would renew occasionally. As of this weekend I've placed ads in 10 different craigs cities, the classifieds here at OSO, Powerboatlistings, and the Salty Dog. Not sure if I can post a link to the ads, but they are chock full of photos and very descriptive. I've lowered my ask to $19950, which appears to be consistent with the average of others on the market around the country. I know everyone is out for a "good deal", but I think that offering 30% less is a bit of stretch...

Where else should I post? What should I do differently? How do you avoid the tire kickers? Any information/suggestions/tips I can glean from the experts here, would be much appreciated! Thanks!

it sucks to sell these things, be patient, or maybe in your case being a hour away you may want to try brokerage, might be worth letting them do it, just got to find the right person, boats are like classic cars/collectible cars its more about who is looking when and where then anything,

Only do a sea trial as part of the final sale. Boats are too costly to take morons for free rides.
