Future paint project
#3
If you are going for a "patriotic" Pain job then I would check out the paint job that some one put to the end of my Painting the boat project thread. They had a really nice one that was very original.

Being an original owner of a '79 Special Edition, I have some of the original brochures that might be able to help you with the reconstruction.
Regarding the paint, be aware that if you get too out there, you will kill the resale value. Honestly, Formula has always maintained classic color schemes that are timeless. I see mid eighties 302's and 311's all the time that really look great and don't seem dated in the least.
Before you get too crazy, why don't you look through the classifieds and see if there might be a stock scheme you might like. Alternatively, going all white gives you the option of using decals you can change for fractions of what a horrid scheme might cost to replace.
FWIW.
