Default 271 SR1 exhaust question?

What are you guys doing for exhaust? My boat has a single big block and I have 6" spacer blocks on top of the manifolds. I have seen so much exhaust for sale on here but when I call about getting tips made I could almost buy the whole setup for what they cost.

Just wondering what similar setups are running? Any suggestions would be great.

Also, my boat does not have the silent thunder exhaust.

My 206 has 3 inch higher than standard risers, stainless marine. Although there are boats that require +3 or +6 risers, they aren't as common as standard.

I didn't know the 271s had a 6 inch spacer, the 242s dont. You can buy them new, wait for a used set, or have a standard one modified. Nothing cheap about it unfortunately

I am using standard CMI e-tops, I had them on the engine that I installed in the 271. I put the exhaust ports in the standard Bravo locations as I do not have the silent thunder box either.
What are your overall plans? I do not think exhaust upgrade alone will provide any measurable increase in performance.

The motor is going to the machine shop next week. Intake, cam, carb as a minimum. I have been kicking around the idea of a supercharger too.

if you run any aft market exhaust on that boat it requires bravo style plus 6 ...if you had the orig exhaust you would have seen a 6''pacer between manifold and riser ...formula sank the motors deep in those boats however with the platform the exhaust was high ..all the 271s were like that

Lightning marine headers can be made to order.

http://www.lightningheaders.com

Go to their web site and take your dimensions as requested. I had mine custom made and have been pleased with the finished product. Took a while to get my order completed, but I had some unique issues to overcome.
Or go with Stainless Marine where you can get different height risers/tips to fit your install.

In my opinion, 6" risers on merc exhaust is just asking for major issues.
My opinion is based on $30k in damage. Been there, done that,
