Hello everyone. I have had a crush on Formula boats for a long time. Particularly the 1988 272. All SR1s actually.
So I purchased my first Formula in October 2015 from a gentleman in Locania NH. The boat had always been a fresh water boat and was priced fair I thought.
Made the trip out to NH and was pleased with everything I saw minus some normal wear and tear on the interior and hull. The hull had some small scratches. The interior needed some TLC.
I get this baby home to New Jersey and in my warehouse and give it a good cleaning. Then we got blessed with some warm weather in November and I got to ride it around in the Sandy Hook bay. What a solid boat!! The boat ran 59 on GPS which was decent for small blocks. I really like the boat.
BUT...............
Needed a winter project. HAHAHA..... So I decided to PIMP MY RIDE. Disassembled the interior and did a few small things and that quickly developed into a complete gut out of the interior.
Now the hull.
That went from touching up to a full custom paint job. Wanting to paint it but 15K for paint is not in my budget. Looked into wrapping the boat. Found AirGraphix in Lake Wood NJ. The owner and his designer sat with me for an hour and helped me pick a design that fit the boat without looking too chessy. The art work is finalized and the boat goes in this coming Wendsday for the install.
Removing every bracket and rail that was on the boat so that there wouldnt be too many seems or cut outs was no easy task!! After removal of the railing that rides along side the front portion of the boat I decided to disguard it entirely because it looks really clean and sporty with out it.
The interior is going to be basic with red ,black and white vinyl. The sun pad will match the graphics. I will post pics later on this evening but for now I will post the boat in its stock look. Stay tuned
