Time to relancerelance the 271 Fastech ??
2 Attachment(s)
I find it a litle strange that there are no room for a single engine boat in the Fastech line ...
With all the new engine options out there from Merc Racing, Ilmore etc even the " new " Merc 502 430 Hk gives a Great all round performance and allmost 65 mph top speed. A perfect combo should be the new Merc Racing 520, which should take the boat into the low 70 s That s the same speed as 292 with 6,2 s and the 353 with 430 s I find the design realy cool, classic and timless, and find 8,3 beam and a length of 27,1 feet symmetric. Only thing they need to do is find a place to a refrigerator and maybe some more room to put stuf ;-) The ride should be good in fjords, lakes, rivers and even at the coast, if the wind is not to strong. In today's economic situation, and quite high cost for fuel and mentaince, it maybe a good option ...... So what do you Formula guys think about the idea, that Formula relance the 271 Fastech ?? |
It would knock a lot of cost down for people that want to get into a Formula. I think that is a popular size for a lake boat. A lot of times I think people buying boats that size are getting these big runabouts, wakeboard boats, etc. Go fast buyers are all dreaming of bigger boats.

They simply cost too much to make, and can not be sold for a high enough mark up to sustain the product. To make it a profitable boat formula would have to cut the quality and mass produce it. Remember the Falcon line??? Affordable formulas...
|
So I heard do you know the price difference between 292 and 271 I think 2010 was the last year of the 271, not sure ....
I do not understand that it's impossible to produce 271,as a luxury single performance boat at an acceptable Price. For sure it will not be cheap, but no Formulas are cheap.... |
Not 100% sure the cost difference, But a base 292 vs a loaded 271 looks like about 25-30k. The 292 phased put the 271 and the 312.

I just think people aren't buying Fastechs like they once were. I haven't seen a full Fastech line up at a boat show in a LONGGGGGGGG time. The SS models have definitely become more popular. Yes there are those "speed" freaks out there that want nothing more than a go-fast boat, but boating is entertainment for yourself and others. You can entertain on an SS. It' tough to entertain when 4 people on a Fastech is cramped. I'll admit I've looked at trading into an SS from my 292. One because we are starting to overnight at places more and Two I can fit more people.

I went from a 271 fastech to a 312 fastech. One thing I hated was the on deck space of the 271 was so small compared to my 312. Cabin space is similar between the two. The 271 was a great first go fast boat, but honestly I wanted twin engines pretty shortly after buying 271.
|
I think there is room, but rwally no one else is doing it so why should they, there is no more entry level performance boats, single or twin engine
|
Pricewise the 271 was too close too the 292. Also I think they should have stuck with the 8 foot beam on it.
