Secondly, there is no way in hell I would run a boat that fast without hydraulic steering. That is just plain unsafe.

Lastly, I agree you got a smoking deal on that boat, you are in right. I say your best back is to sell it and move on to something more equipped to do what you want.
If a stock scorpion 292 boat is running what, 78??? that is what, 700hp give or take? I'm talking about 850 to a 950 with my most recent options, with SBC weight? what do you think it will run then?

I am 100% doing SBC's, no need for the added weight of big blocks, nor do I know if they would fit, let alone service. We will see about drives, still considering the bmax's in the back of my head in case of future power upgrades. (despite POSSIBLY scrubbing a few mph)

I think someone has to f*k with everything he owns. That's what I'm getting here. He just simply has more of a sickness than most of us that are sick.

Who would mod a boat that was bought to flip and maybe make a few $$$$ ?

Resale will def be better with factory power. See what's around for take outs.

So if your goal isnt to flip, its to make the boat haul azz with small blocks... Why are you phucking around with SBC's?? Throw a couple mean LS motors in it and let it eat.

http://www.indmar.com/Engine/GEKKO/VENOM_550_SC.aspx 550 hp with nice warranty or build your own ls, if your doing that from what I have read 600 hp out of a na ls motor is really pressty easy and pretty depndable,

If you can get $20K for the Volvo gear and you want a 292 hot rod, there is also this option:
http://ilmor.com/en/marine/recreatio...px?menu_id=390

1140 HP and a few hundred pounds lighter than the small blocks you have now.

While your at it, throw in some Arneson drives. I would love to see how the 292 would run with those drives. It should really fly and be extremely efficient. Not to mention the awesome roost.

Not that ilmors are bad, but with some careful shopping he could probably get 2 complete drop in ready 6.2 liter supercharged 550 hp gm powertrain marine ls motors with warrantys for what he would pay for 1 ilmor 570....

Ls's all the way.

That way you can figure out if it works before the rest of us do.

Never heard of a stock Scorpion motor 292 running 78 mph. Maybe on the water speedometer. What are real speeds of a Scorpion 292 on GPS ???? The only 85 mph 292 I heard of was a 6.2 boat with prochargers. Jeff Wurl

Awesome shop, nice work, pressing forward. 292 in the shop right now getting some cool stuff done, Jl audio speaker pods, custom real carbon dash, lots of cool parts like updated rockers, billet CNc cup holder replacements for the plastic ones, etc. had 383's, full hydro, kplanes.

I will be doing 383 or 406's. 810hp -950 NA. Full hydraulic steering, and guy was talking me into bravo 1x's vs bmax saying small block won't destroy 1x. If I didn't know better dudes kids were born with merc tattoos lol.

In all seriousness, super sick work. Keep this thread going.
