I think I will but some. To me it's a pretty cheap option that can potentially save you thousands. I did the Key West poker run two years ago and we ran near flat out all the way down. About 180 mikes. On the return we lost a drive about 1/2 way back. I'm signed up to make this run again so this is one of the reasons I'm adding them.

We also live near Tampa Bay Area. It's not uncommon for us to get out on the Gulf and run pretty hard for 30-50 mikes. Seems like a no brainier at this point. Thanks guys.

How much of a oil temperature drop have you noticed?
Simrek Drive Showers will lower your oil temp 65 degrees with the Halo Max for Bravo's and 50-55 degrees with the Summit Max for Alpha's Both Mercruiser outdrives

I am a big fan of the http://www.maxmachineworx.com/accessories.htm drive showers. I have many friends that run them; and most important they can work around almost all hydraulic steering systems. I tore one up years ago when a prop came apart, and parts were easy to attain and swap as well.

I've primarily run volvo penta outdrives and am not familiar with drive showers. The intent of these makes perfect sense to me given this is not built into most merc outdrives. These devices with the pipe formed around the drive look to be ~ 8' of 3/8 pipe with a fastener brackets welded on and some wholes poked in it. Is there more to it than that? If not, the markup on these must be incredible (retail ranging from $70-180 and cost can't be much more than $10b, and yes, I realize this is countered my the cost it could save on outdrive repairs.

The other style I have seen appears to connect in to the upper and spray water down from there. When is one style more appropriate than the other?

Thanks!
