Default Bolsters

I found a set of bolsters from a wrecked 1992 336 and would like to install them in a 1989 242. I think in 1992 Formula changed the shape of the back of the bolster and added a padded connection to the side of the boat. In the earlier years there was just a stainless bar that ran from the back of the bolster and which tied into the side of the boat. in 1992 it is much more robust. almost a structural part of the seat that is covered with vinyl. Does anyone know if this piece can just be unscrewed from the bolster? without major reconstruction of the seat? Thanks.

Jpm, the bolster change came in 91', and the vinyl covered band if you will, was more cosmetic, as seen here on my former 91' 292. If I recall correctly, there was a SSTL bracket that connects from the side of the bolster (underneath) to the inside of the cockpit, as well as the pedestal the bolster sits on toward centerline. You are correct that the prior years had the SSTL hand grab that runs along the back of the bolster over to the cockpit sidewall.

Can't see why you would be able to come up with something to make the later model bolster work in your install.

Treads. Thanks for the response. First off, that is a beautiful 292. So yea, based on your pics it looks like I should be able to make it work. Thanks again for the info.
