See where your timing is, should be around 34-35 all in.

You are at about 10% slip which is really good for a single, although the 4 blade is probably helping that. For top speed you should probably try a 21 mirage plus.

The stock 365 horse 454mag with a 21 mirage pushed my friends to 56-58 gps. We built the motor up, dynoed at 496 horse and pushes it to 68 to 70 gps with a 23 mirage plus at about 5400 rpm or so.

edit:
are you sure the water on the butterflies isn't just condensation? Air cools as it flows through the carb venturi effect and water will condense out of the air.

The air filter was soaking wet on the back side. I'm 99% sure the water issue was the lack of speedometer fitting.

Basically I need to be looking for a 22p 4 blade?

No I mean the prop a "Bravo 1" it's a 4 blade prop, kinda confusing with a Bravo 1 drive also.

Could not agree more. 22P Bravo 1 four blade is perfect for 425 HP in that boat.

Many guys like the 4 blade for cruise but the prop is in the basement on these old boats and a 3 blade mirage plus will be 2 or 3 mph faster every time.

Brought my 4 year old and the woman to the island today. Still fighting the busing up when secondarys open. Good excuse use to cruise at 38mph though lol. Haven't had the nerve to open the hatch to (fingers crossed ) find no water. The cap, rotor, wires, and plugs WILL be replaced before the next trip out. Btw, for all our northern friends. It's 78° on the mobile river delta night now.
