This one is pretty nice, but unless the current owners did an engine swap, they are not mag motors. I looked at it two years ago and it had the 310/mpi motors.

there's no way that boat does 74 mph with the 310 mpi motors. no matter, just glad to see the used boat market getting better for the buyers as nice boats are starting to show up more reasonably priced

Yeah, I'm hoping that more show up as the summer winds down. I'm willing to get one from out of town but its that kind of crap (claiming 454 mags when 454 mpi) that makes me hesitant to jump on something without having my ducks in a row 1st (surveyor etc)

. FYI, I saw this boat on Facebook and talked to them. Didn't get me excited. Not to flexible on price.

My 502's are MPI and are Mags, why wouldn't a 454 MPI be the same ( My 97 Velocity was a 454 MAG MPI)? I though only 7.4's or carb 454's weren't Mags. Though Mags were based on the internals of the motors, allowing them to make the extra HP.

All the 502's were mag motors, carb or efi. The 454's came in reg 454 (330hp) carb and 454 mag (365hp) carb. The fuel injected 454's came in 454 MPI (LX) @ 310hp and the 454 MAG EFI @ 385hp. A BIG difference especially when you
have twins (150hp ).

The 454 EFI was 94-96. In 1996-1998 they offered the Mag MPI's. EFI/MPI don't make it a MAG, the block typically does due to the beefed up lower end and rectangular ports of the intake. MPI and EFI are the same thing, a TBI is different (Throttle Body Injection).

EFI/MPI's should have 1 injector per cylinder. Any 454 that was MPI was a Mag, a 454 EFI may be questionable - run the serial numbers to confirm HP. The Mercury Part lists a 454 EFI with a 454 Mag Block and rectangular port intake - Making it a Mag as well.

Anything listed 7.4L or LX is not a mag.

Use the Mercury Parts Finder to confirm what you see, compare the key components:

If you live in South Florida, you should definitely being looking out of town. Here in the northeast, it's all freshwater, and the season is so short, that they tend not to get alot of hours put on them
