Default 353 Engine hatch

Hoping someone can give me some insight as to why all of a sudden as I lift the engine hatch it is bowing in the middle...The back end of it begins to lift before the front...very odd. Thanks for any help.

I added a 1/4" thick backer plate under the sun pad.

BTW: I need a new sun pad. the plastic breaks around the mounting bolts to the hinge.

Well I know why we were having the bowing issue...the hatch base was completed cracked in the middle...amazing how cheezy this thing is manufactured. We removed all the vinyl panels and have reinforced the base with Kouza board and additional layers of fiberglass....this thing is now rock solid. Wish I could get my computer to cooperate and show all the photos...since I can't just close your eyes and imagine....
