Like Audiofn I have a 302ls . Although it is a bigger model and 1982 hull I beleive that the differences are the same. In 1982 the SR1 label was given to the high performance model of the particular size boat. On the 302 the SR1 exhaust exited above the water line through the hull. It came with a cut down blacked out windsheild, bolster seats, cut down bow rail no bow spot light and 420 hp motors as opposed to the stock 330 hp motors. Besides these differences the hulls were the same and so were cabin appointments. I beleive the LS came with a teak swim platform and the SR1 did not as the exhuast exited to high. Hope that helps. TBIRD,
You are right about the larger Formulas, in 86' there were some hulls built with the curved windshield. Not on the 272 though. I have seen some differant configurations in the 1986 era, Curved windshild and teak swimplatform. I guess the silent thunder was an option starting 87' although you do not see many without. 1987 and after saw all 272 and larger carry the SR1 designation.
I did not mean that SR1 ment curved windsheild it was just the new designation for the new style boat all changes included. Today is a very sad day I am winterizing my baby.

Russ Sr1,
Don't feel like the Lone Ranger...I'm holding out till the weekend. Saturday looks sucko but Sunday might be good for the last Hoorah
In any case I'll be doing mine next week , then call the shrinkwrapper
I do get a zippered door put in , and I'll probably be spending some time in there over the winter unbolting the engines and stuff. New ones in the spring

In 1986, the SR-1 designation was for only the F302-Sr1;311-SR1; and the 357SR-1. The '86 302SR-1 did not feature the rounded windshielded. However, the 311Sr-1 as well as 357SR-1 did. The 242 was available in LS(($47,520 retail w/(2)260's) and 242SS($34,620 retail w/260). The 272 was available in LS($58,845 retail w/(2)260's). In 1986, most of the performance models, including SR-1's featured a teak swim platform. However, in '86 the 206 had a fiberglass platform with thru-hull which exit over the platform. All the '86 242's & 272's featured the squared off windshield. The '86 302-SR1 featured a blacked-out cowl. The teak platform & windshield were optional.
In 1987, the SR-1 designation was for all of the performance models, including the 272SR-1. The LS designation was dropped from the 272 and larger models. In 1987, the 242 was offered in an LS( single engine, twin buckets, bench, & sun deck);the SS( single engine, bucket for driver, back-back recliner on passenger side,& 1/2 size sundeck); and the SR-1, which was like the LS, except the designation marked twin 260's. All the Sr-1's now featured the rounded windshielded. In '87 the silent thunder option became available. '87 is a pivotal year for Formula, as it is difficult to tell these from later model years.
In 1988, the (3)242 configurations were available. This was to be the last year of the Sr-1 option( big block power w/Bravo drive resulted in option fading out of existence). The 242 LS was available in '88 with largest package of 454 mag w/Bravo rated by factory @57 MPH. The 242SS in '88 was available with max. of 7.4(330)w/Bravo, rated @52MPH. The 242SR-1 in '88 was with (2)270HP(350 mag's)w/Alpha's, rated @65MPH.
Regarding the bolster seats, they were an option in the 242. They were not standard with the Sr-1 package. The bottom was also the same on all of the 242's.
The 206 did have arounded windshield in '86, and that did carry thru the years. It was also available initially in a bow rider with a "Spyder" designation.

When I bought the boat, there was a three inch binder with all the receipts for work done to the boat, and all the Mercruiser manuals for it.
I bought it earlier this year. According to the reciepts, the engines were replaced with FWC 260's 34 hours before I bought it.
The best part is I only paid $8500 for it.
