Best props for a 292 with 350 mags?
I have a 292 fastech with 350 mags and I'm looking for the best props for a little more top end. Boat runs 66-68 mph religiously if I'm lucky I'll see 70 for a few seconds. I currently have 26 pitch 4 blade mirage props. Any suggestions?

Probably labbed 26 Bravo 4 blades. My 292 has labbed 28 Bravo 4 blades and runs 68-71 mph depending on conditions, but I have the 6.2 liter 320 HP engines. Saw 71 mph just yesterday in perfect conditions and nice cool air. |
Those mirage p will probably be faster than the labbed 28 Bravos. My 23 mirage is faster than my 24 bravo at the same rpm. Slip ratio is lower. Maybe find you a set of revolutions to try. To me that has been the best prop in my application with a single engine.

Never said that. I said it handles 4-6s just fine for its size. Also I have been in boats my entire life and know a little about how to drive them. If you would like to play arm chair quarterback come to mobile Alabama, get in the boat and we will go out for a ride. I will never make a claim that is not a fact. People including myself come to this forum for help. Not to argue. I'm sorry if you do not believe my statements. I will not clutter the board up with this nonsense.

4-6’s and comfortable in anything less than a 38-40 is comical!!! Sorry. I don’t care how you drive. I’ve seen 45’s turn around in 6’s because water was coming over the deck...to each there own. Rock on. |

i owned a 292 fastech for 4-5 years before owning what I have today. I can confidently say, it cannot handle waters in excess of 4’ comfortably. I can also say that in 3’ waters headed to Greenport LI, that the boat got beat so badly that the steering reservoir ripped out of the bulkhead and was hanging by the hydraulic hose. It sheared the screw heads on the windshield leaving it half attached. The helm was also starting to detach from the hull. It started as a 1/8” gap and grew to a 1/2” gap. Shortly after that run I found the red buzzer on the floor as it had become detached from the dash. Think I spent a couple hours with a screw driver putting things back together. im pretty sure I know what a sub 30’ fastech can and can’t handle. I didn’t hear this second hand or read it on the internet. |
