Well, i didn't winterize my boat and i am paying the price, literally. Cracked block. I am ready to purchase a new engine, but the mechanic cannot find any numbers on the motor to order one. Can anyone point me in the right direction please? I don't need the H/O motor, just the 7.4L 454.

This is NOT your engine (it's mine). But if I ever blow one up, I'm thinking this is the company I'd buy from..
(unless anyone else has a better idea)

If you just want a normal engine like it came with you step looking for a 330hp 454. Its nothing fancy. Thousands of them our there.
The rest of us take this opportunity to get something larger or build one with a little more oomph

You could do what I did and buy a GM performance marine long block with a one year warranty. Perfproplus was who I bought mine from and then it ran $7000 shipped. 550 lbs of reliable torque will surely bring your 223 to life. All forged all roller.

We replaced the engine in my son's 223 two years ago, Just about any BBC will fit. We bought from Tim Mangus (585.671.0082) and have had great performance, even went back and bought another one for a different boat. They come dyno test, with a video posted to the internet if you can't be there.
