Default Bench seats in cabin... storage underneath?

1989 272 sr-1 ...
do the bench seats in the cabin pop up to stow gear underneath ?
I've tried but can't get them up and don't want to force and break them...but it seems like wasted space.

thanks
PK

My 34 Scarab had big bench seats with storage behind them but nothing underneath.

No storage on my '84 272. I took out the useless icebox and used that space for storage and a hanging closet.

nope no space under the benches. doubtful it be anything real spacious even if they did lift up as it'd be a weird triangular space. could always pull them up and pull out a circular saw and make some holes....if you do though please take photos

Been a few stories on here about people redoing their cabin and installing a new floor and screwing the boat to the trailer.
They couldn't figure why the boat wouldn't come off the trailer at the ramp.

Thanks all.

i just figured even a few extra feet of storage is always helpful but it is what it is.

thinking of pulling out the refrigerator and stowing some gear in that space.
anyone ever done or seen it done?
thanks

I pulled mine up in a 312 years ago (about the same size as your 272). There was shocking little space under there and I just closed it back up the way it was.

I did see post #3 lol
i was wondering what the operation was like? As in, did the fridge come out in one piece? Fit through the cabin door ok? Did you add any finish inside the cabinet? Etc.

any pictures?
thank you again
