Default Looking at an 87 242

I'm looking for my first "real" boat, got my eye on a 242. Found this...

Trying to go see it tomorrow. I have concerns about the "Blue Mercury" that the ad says it has. To me this looks like a regular 502 that someone painted blue. Not the true Blue Racing Mercury engines I've seen pictures of.

Any thoughts or clarification? Boat is in Port Huron, Michigan, in case anyone knows it.

The 502 mag mpi is an efi 502. Not an hp500 that may be where you are getting confused. I like the upholstery. But I'm biased to that color. The boat being solid white is quite different for a 242. Either love it or hate it. I'm in between. Like it because its clean and sleek. Dont particularly care for it because I love the old 80s stripe packages they had. Looks to be a well loved boat. But looks can be deceiving. Have a survey done and be sure to check the stringers, transom, and accessible bulkheads.

That makes sense. Thanks for the clarification. I like the interior colors and I actually love the clean white look. Definitely going to get a survey.

How is the price in your opinion? Seems like a good deal to me with the 502 and Bravo setup.

Well turns out it was pretty rough. Pictures looked way better than the boat in person. Not beyond saving. But more than I wanted to get into... lots of little odds and ends.

Thanks for the help though. The search continues
